Inferno's Ignition program is a music production and performance program for youth ages 14 to 19 (high school) hosted by the Chicago Park District's Young Cultural Stewards at Austin Town Hall (5610 W. The program will have a maximum of 8 participants. The program will explore music from Chicago, including juke, drill, house, blues, and jazz. Youth will have the opportunity to participate in 2 field trips - one to Marquette Park’s music program, and one to Reelsounds, a recording studio in Skokie. We will also visit the Austin Library branch multiple times. Youth will receive a $600 stipend upon attending all the in-person meetings and completing the program, which will be broken up into two payments: One after 4 weeks, and the other after the showcase. Ideal candidates are those who: ● Lead by curiosity ● Work well with others ● Want to share their love of music ● Take notes ● Can commit to the schedule Applicants must live in the City of Chicago, be a US citizen between 14 and 19 years old, and have graduated from 8th grade. Applying only expresses interest in the program and does not guarantee admission into the Ignition program. If you/your child meet(s) Ignition’s requirements, a follow-up email will be sent to schedule an interview.
