Marquette Park Piano Trio: The Piano Trio Blues at Marquette

Join the Marquette Park Piano Trio for a free concert! The piano trio has been long held as one of the most egalitarian formats in jazz. The blues has been interpreted as anything from high art to the most direct and unsullied folk idiom. In this logical pairing, Marquette Park's piano trio of longstanding collaborators presents a program of everything from T-Bone Walker's "Stormy Monday" to Charlie Parker's "Now's The Time"--with the through-thread being the blues, the whole blues, and nothing but the blues. Free and open to the public inside the historic Marquette Park Auditorium, with seating provided.

This show will be preceded by the Marquette Park Backbeat Project performing “Classic Instrumentals”, an examination of some of the standout pieces in the early evolution of hip-hop.
