Marquette Park Quintet: Ask the Ages at Marquette
Wednesday, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Description
Join the Marquette Park Quintet for a free concert! Sonny Sharrock was most heard as the composer of the music for the late-night show "Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast", but enjoyed a multiple-decade career as one of the pioneers of what would be known as 'noise rock'. Drawing heavily on the avant-garde of the 1960s, the jazz fusion of the 70s, and on his own inherent sense of melodic logic, Sharrock released his magnum opus "Ask the Ages" in 1991 shortly before his early death. Tonight, the Marquette Park Quintet will perform "Ask the Ages" in its entirety in album order. This set will be followed by the Marquette Park Chamber Ensemble performing ""Open Letter to Duke"", a selection of pieces by Duke Ellington and Charles Mingus.
Musicians:
--Alexis Aroche: alto saxophone--Markail Johnson: tenor saxophone--Grek Vega: electric guitar--Rey Dyckman: electric bass--Jalen Robinson: drumset
