Walking Stick Woods is always open for play, but today staff will be there will maps to point families to exciting play nodes and as a resource to educators who are curious about facilitating nature play.
Walking Stick Woods is a unique area in the Chicago Park District, children are welcomed off trail to explore build and embrace the intuitive lessons that happen when we let nature be our teacher. The site of incredible nature play and the state?s first forest play school, we will welcome all to explore. Staff will also have a table of resources about nature play for parents and educators including the benefits of nature play, how to deal with risks and hazards within nature play, and information about the community process for establishing a nature playground in your own community.
