Description
Elastic Arts', Power of The Word, centers the power of the arts to amplify the voices of artists and community members to oppose injustice, to support healing, and to imagine positive futures. The program features participants of Elastic's, Dark Matter Residency for emerging BIPOC artists, along with other local artists performing in their neighborhoods. Join us as we celebrate the legacy of pianist and composer Lillian (Lil) Hardin Armstrong, in the park named for her. Ms. Armstrong was the second wife of Louis Armstrong, with whom she collaborated on many recordings in the 1920s. Featuring the dynamic singer and musician Alysha Monique and trumpeter Bobby Wonderfull who recently released Ella and Louis Reimagined. They will be joined on the bill by DJ, promoter, music historian, and tastemaker Duane Powell, who will DJ before and after Monique and Wonderfull’s performance. This event was originally scheduled on August 27th to honor the 53rd anniversary of Lil Hardin Armstrong's passing, https://elasticarts.org/Add to Calendar
