Description
In this workshop artists Margaret Morris and Rashada Dawan will move forward considering visionary ethics, practical approaches, and strategies towards collectively innovating arts in and connected with the South Shore community. Now is the time for shifting paradigms and building the new world that we prefer for ourselves and future generations. We look at the summation of data from previous workshops and use it to collaborate and come up with practical approaches to moving forward together as empowered people and artists.
The Cultural Asset Mapping Project seeks to identify and map cultural assets in 9 neighborhoods surrounding Cultural Centers in parks across Chicago while documenting and uplifting oral histories and strong memories from artists, cultural organizers, and community members who are stakeholders in your neighborhoods.
Cultural Asset Mapping Project (CAMP) is part of a larger initiative led by the Chicago Park District, the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, and the League of Chicago Theatres to better understand the performing arts and related cultural forms on the South Side and West Side of Chicago.
