The Chicago Park District manages 50 outdoor pools, 27 indoor pools and works with Chicago Public Schools to operate school pools for community use in areas without a park pool. Indoor pools are open most of the year. Outdoor pools typically open in mid June and close just prior to the start of the CPS school year in August. Most pools have accessibility features such as ADA stairs, pool lifts, and zero-depth entry. At a few locations with pool lifts, direct wheelchair access to the pool area may still be limited.
Open swim and lap swim sessions are offered throughout the year. Admission to open-swim sessions is free, lap swims require an affordable membership. Aquatics programs such as Learn to Swim, Aquatic Exercise, and much more are offered each season. Most programs have a minimal fee. Programs for seniors are free.
