View programs online now; in-person registration starts March 2
The Chicago Park District’s spring program schedule is available for viewing in anticipation of online registration, which begins February 25.
This year’s spring session is chock-full of sports, recreational and artistic programming offerings for youth, teens, adults and seniors. Park programs run the gamut from softball, swimming and soccer to fitness, theater and dance instruction.
Online registration is as follows:
• Parks located west of California Avenue will begin registration Monday, February 25 at 9 a.m.
• Parks located east of California Avenue will begin registration Tuesday, February 26 at 9 a.m.
In-person registration is scheduled to begin on Saturday, March 2 at most park locations, with some sites starting on Monday, March 4. Most programs begin the week of April 1st.
Each spring, children explore nature, arts and culture; engage in sports and recreation; and enjoy indoor pool time. They will also keep their learning skills sharp through reading activities and games in Spring Break Camps in preparation for back-to-school. Spring Break Camps run thru the week of April 15.
“Spring park programs offer Chicagoans of all ages and interests an opportunity to explore outdoor play through thousands of sport, fitness, cultural and environmental activities,” said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Michael P. Kelly. “Local parks are hubs of activity and provide safe spaces to engage in inexpensive programs that enrich the lives of everyone that participates.”
The Chicago Park District continues to strive to be the most affordable option for quality programming in Chicago. This past spring more than 100,000 people enrolled in Chicago Park District programs, the most ever for the Park District since it launched a new online registration system in the spring of 2012.
The Chicago Park District’s gymnastics centers will begin Spring program registration on Tuesday, February 26 at 12 pm.
It is important to note that online registration for McFetridge Sports Center and Morgan Park Sports Center begins on Tuesday, March 5, followed by in person registration on Saturday, March 9.
Given the popularity of programs, patrons are encouraged to browse through the list of available park programs, and create a wish list before the start of registration.
