MORE: Junior Bear is a tackle football program for our youth. All season long, players participate in opening ceremonies, clinics, and league play against various park teams across the city. We are excited for the championship Mum Bowl game and we invite the public to come out to cheer on our finalists!
Before the game, athletes will continue the tradition of presenting a family member with a mum corsage to thank them for the time and effort they provide to make the season possible. At halftime, one Junior Bear player will receive the Walter Payton Award, which honors a player who exercises good sportsmanship and is an asset to his community. At the end of the game, the Thomas “Coach” Mitchell Trophy will be awarded to either the LaFollette Park Wildcats or the Lindblom Park Ravens.
Admission to the game, as well as parking in the Waldron garage, is free.
To determine the 3rd and 4th place winners, a game between the Ogden Park Vikings and Taylor Park Falcons will be played at De La Salle Institute (3434 S Michigan Ave.) on Saturday, October 30 at 3 p.m.
The Junior Bear program is coordinated and administered by the Chicago Park District, and partially funded by a grant from Bears Care, the charitable arm of the Chicago Bears. Learn more about the Junior Bear Football program here.
