Chicago has always been a big bebop town, thanks in no small part to impresario Joe Segal?s determination to spread the word of Bird (Charlie Parker). In the late 60s the scene?s young lions included multi-reedist Ira Sullivan and alto player Bunky Green (who also played at JIC?s first concert in 1969) along with pianist and vibist Stu Katz. A reunion is in order and the three octogenarians will take the stage once again, representing the whole arc of history of the bebop form. With Dennis Carroll on bass and Kyle Swann on drums.

Dedicated to JIC Co-founder Joe Segal
