Building Sustainable and Joyful Futures: Mapping the Future of Community-Responsive Arts in Chicago with Free Street Theater. In this Active Dialogue, participants are invited to dream the future of neighborhood-based arts in Chicago, and to explore the systems we need to develop or support in order to make our vision for the city come true. From nurturing future leaders to creating more accessible spaces, how can we create our future today?
In celebration of the Year of Chicago Theater, Theater in Our Parks celebrates the power and impact of small arts organizations in our parks. From June through November, a series of critical conversations around the state of community theater will be led by Arts Partners in Residence and their young creative leaders. Free Street, Albany Park Theater Project and Kuumba Lynx will each host a critical community conversation paired with other arts partners in dance, performance, and music. These critical dialogues and embodied workshops will focus on three key questions around the state of community theater and performance in Chicago: Who are the experts? Who is our audience? What is our future?
Join the conversation and follow this series:
June 9 Theater in our Parks: Reimagining hosted by Kuumba Lynx at Clarendon
August 6 Theater in our Parks: Our Chicago hosted by Albany Park Theater Project at Eugene Field
October 14-Theater in our Parks Festival at Theater on the Lake
