Background

The new state law effective January 1, 2027, establishes new statewide regulations governing e-bikes, e-scooters, e-skateboards, e-unicycles, and higher-powered electric devices, including where they can be ridden, who can ride them, and requirements for devices capable of traveling at higher speeds.  The Chicago Park District is gathering feedback to establish additional rules that govern the use of some of these devices on its bicycle paths/trails.
