What to Wear and Bring:

New Lifeguard Academy is a comprehensive training program that will include a basic fitness component.  Workout clothes are required for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, and a swimsuit is required on Thursday.  An American Red Cross Lifeguarding Book (r. 2017) is recommended, and a CPR Pocket Mask is required for all training days. Participants will be required to wear a face mask, and are strongly encouraged to have a back-up mask as well.

Participants will be evaluated throughout the Academy and will be ranked based on attendance and punctuality, participation, and proficiency in American Red Cross and Chicago Park District lifesaving skills. Candidates who successfully complete the Academy will be hired and assigned based on their ranking until all positions are filled. Completion of the Academy does not guarantee employment.

For questions, please contact the Chicago Park District Aquatics office at (773) 363-2225.
