Natural areas are open from dawn to dusk daily. Paved paths here follow park hours.

Description

Douglass Park contains over over 20 acres of prairie, savanna, wetland, and aquatic habitats. The lagoon is a great spot to fish all summer long. A paved path surrounds the lagoon, with opportunities to view native bird species such as black-crowned night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax), great blue heron (Ardea herodias) and native plants including white water lilies (Nymphaeoa odorata), common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca), New England aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae), and Illinois bundleflower (Desmanthus illinoensis).
