Douglass Park Natural Area

Description

Douglass Park contains over over 20 acres of prairie, savanna, wetland, and aquatic habitats. The lagoon is a great spot to fish all summer long. A paved path surrounds the lagoon, with opportunities to view native bird species such as black-crowned night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax), great blue heron (Ardea herodias) and native plants including white water lilies (Nymphaeoa odorata), common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca), New England aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae), and Illinois bundleflower (Desmanthus illinoensis).

Help keep wildlife wild, safe, and healthy by following posted signage and Natural Areas Rules and Regulations. For questions regarding Chicago Park District Natural Areas, email nature@chicagoparkdistrict.com
