The following remain closed: all playgrounds, all pools and most areas & facilities east of Lake Shore Drive except for the Lakefront Trail, harbors, golf courses and many concessions. Beaches are closed for the season. Water fountains remain off. The Lakefront Trail and The 606 are open, users must keep it moving. Chicago Park District fitness courses offer park visitors an opportunity for outdoor workouts with equipment to facilitate a variety of exercises. Fitness courses vary by location and may include parallel bars, rings, raised horizontal ladders, jump boxes, and incline or flat abdominal benches for body weight exercises. These courses can be paired with walking, running or biking on nearby trails to add cross training to your cardiovascular workout or can be used alone for a total body workout.
Unlike our playgrounds, which offer play opportunities for children, these facilities are intended for use in fitness activity.
