Lake Shore Park Community Garden
All community gardens in Chicago parks are independently managed and financed by community members. This garden is managed by the Lakeshore Park Garden group and surrounds the south, west, northwest, and part of the northeast outside perimeter of the running track. It is an ornamental garden that contains native plants as well as other perennials designed to attract butterflies and other essential insects and birds.
One of the main goals of the garden is to provide a place of respite and beauty. It is close to the Northwestern, Prentice, and Lurie Children’s hospitals and serves as a place where patients and visitors can come to enjoy a bit of nature and rejuvenation. It also enhances the park for residents in the community and visitors from all over the world.
