Description

The creation of this new natural area began in 2023. Restoration activities include the conversion of non-native turf grasses to native prairie and oak savanna, as well as garden bed improvements. Along with nearby ecological activities at Canal Origins Park and Canalport Riverwalk Park, these land and water enhancements will improve the biodiversity of this otherwise heavily industrial and developed area, as well as increase opportunities for nature education, exploration, and appreciation in this area. Visitors can explore this natural area from paved paths that run alongside the native plantings.

Help keep wildlife wild, safe, and healthy by following posted signage and Natural Areas Rules and Regulations. For questions regarding Chicago Park District Natural Areas, email nature@chicagoparkdistrict.com
