LAKEFRONT TRAIL CLOSURE ALERT:

Due to high waves, the pedestrian trail is closed from Fullerton Ave. to North Ave. and both the pedestrian and bike trails are closed from Oak St. to Ohio St. Please continue to use caution along the lakefront in areas where water meets pavement. View a map of wet pavement cautionary areas.

Due to recent increased rains and warm temperatures, blue-green algae (Cyanobacteria) may be present in water. Do not enter or allow animals (pets) in water. There is no fishing permitted at this time.

Natural areas are open from 6am to 11pm daily.

Description

Washington Park Natural Area is 42 acres of native prairie and wetland encompassing Washington Park's southern lagoon. Paved and gravel trails wind through the natural area around the lagoon, over boardwalks, and onto quiet islands.
