Anaphylaxis is a potentially life-threatening medical condition occurring in allergic individuals after exposure to their specific allergens. It may also occur in children or adults not previously known to be allergic or hypersensitive. It is one of the most serious emergency situations to which district staff may have to respond. The reaction ranges from mild, self-limited symptoms to rapid death. Immediate action is required.
The Chicago Park District conducts staff education as to the signs and symptoms of an anaphylactic reaction. Education is patron and park based.
