Silver Skates Speed Skating Competition

SIGN UP TO COMPETE IN THE 2023 SILVER SKATES SPEED SKATING COMPETITIONS

Celebrating its 106th year, Silver Skates is an annual speed skating competition for children ages 6 - 17, and adults.  Six events take place at neighborhood ice rinks from January 10 - 19, 2023.  Check-in begins at 5:15 pm for each event, races begin at 5:45 pm.  Youth races take place first, followed by the adult races.

Online registration will open in mid-December for these races.  Registration will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis to the first 20 participants from each age group and gender.  Advance registration online is encouraged,  Onsite registration is available the day of the meet if spots still remain, beginning at 5:15 pm.  All participants under the age of 18 MUST have a parent or guardian register them in order to participate.

Participants must wear gloves, long sleeves, and a bicycle or hockey helmet to participate. Figure skates, hockey skates, or speed skates must be worn at all times. Skates will be available to rent free of charge at each event.

A citywide competition takes place at McFetridge Sports Center on Saturday, January 21, 2023.  Youth skaters that qualify from the neighborhood races will be invited to compete at the citywide competition.   Check-in begins at 9:15 am, races begin at 10 am.  Adults are invited to race at the citywide competition without having to qualify from one of the neighborhood races.
