Located in the North Lawndale Community Area, Homan Square totals 5.18 acres. The Homan Square Community Center Campus was completed in December 2001. It is a comprehensive recreation, health, family and education center that is home to some of the finest non-profit service providers in Chicago. Homan Square Park offers great recreation facilities, among them an Olympic size indoor swimming pool; state-of-the-art fitness center, gymnasium, a kitchen and several meeting rooms that host senior activities and game room fun. With limited green space, outside the rolling lawn space features a children’s playground.
Many of these spaces are available for rental, especially the patio for wedding receptions.
Park-goers can play basketball, volleyball and go swimming at the facility. On the cultural side, Homan Square Park offers dance programs. After school programs are offered throughout the school year, and in the summer youth attend the Park District’s popular six-week day camp.
In addition to programs, Homan Square Park hosts fun special events throughout the year for the whole family, such as UMOJA Black History Month celebration.
