Budget recommendations support families, while remaining fiscally responsible

The Chicago Park District just released its 2024 budget recommendations in advance of its public budget hearing as required by the District Code. The proposed $574 million budget unveils a series of priorities focused on delivering for families by maintaining park programs affordable and accessible, and investing in public safety, infrastructure and operational improvements to enhance our commitment to a sustainable future. The balanced Budget achieves these goals while at the same time being fiscally responsible and mindful of taxpayer resources.

This Budget was informed by a community engagement process far more extensive than in recent years. The District held an in-person and a virtual meeting for the general public as well as targeted outreach and virtual meetings with various stakeholder groups, including teen, volunteer and partner groups, that shared valuable input on their parks. The 2024 budget recommendations reflect the public and online comments and suggestions provided.

Chicago Park District General Superintendent & CEO Rosa Escareño will officially present the 2024 Budget recommendations during a public budget hearing to be held Wednesday, November 15th at 11 a.m. at the Chicago Park District Administration Building, 4830 S. Western Ave. The Park District Board of Commissioners will vote on the 2024 budget recommendations during its regular monthly meeting on December 13th.
