Due to the extreme cold, the following changes will be made to Chicago Park District programs and facilities on Wednesday, January 30 and Thursday, January 31:

•    Warming Centers
More than 100 park fieldhouses have been designated as warming centers, providing shelter/place to go for anyone in need, during normal operating hours. View a list of these locations.  All other parks and buildings, except for the conservatories (see below), will be closed.  Please note: if a warming center site has no attendance for an extended period of time, the building may close early.

•    Daytime Activities for Kids
Drop-in activities will be offered for kids at the warming center locations, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.  Activities are primarily for kids age 6-12, but older kids are welcome. Activities are free. Register online here, or in-person at the park. Note: Online registration closes once the program start time has passed, but in-person registration is still available. Adults must accompany the child when registering in-person.  Those attending must bring their own snacks and lunch.

•  Canceling Regularly Scheduled Programs
All regularly scheduled programs will be canceled.  This includes programs at parks, gymnastics centers, park pools, pools at CPS locations and conservatories.

•    School Park Locations
All school park locations will be closed, and programs at these sites will be canceled, including programs operated in CPS Schools by Chicago Park District Beaches and Pools division.

•    Pools
Pools are open (park pools only, not pools at CPS locations), during normal park hours.  Regularly scheduled programs are canceled, but lifeguards will be on duty for open swims.

•    Ice Rinks
Outdoor ice rinks will be closed Tuesday 1/29, Wednesday 1/30 and Thursday 1/31.

•    Conservatories
Both Garfield and Lincoln Park Conservatories will be open, but programming will be canceled.  The Garfield Park Conservatory will close at 5 pm, instead of the regularly scheduled closing time of 8 pm on Wednesdays.

We are returning to normal operations on Friday, February 1, with all facilities open and programs offered as regularly scheduled.
