Neighbors' Garden Park is unique in that the entire park is a community garden. The mission of its founders and volunteer stewards is to provide a garden space in the middle of a bustling urban community where humans can learn from nature and share quiet moments. Neighbors' Garden Park opened in 1994 with the support of the LSRA Block Club, the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Chicago Park District. Neighbors’ Garden Park volunteers have maintained the park and garden throughout its existence, tending beautiful ornamental landscapes and a small terrace for edible crops. These plots are used as a practice laboratory for learning as well as growing food.

Neighbors’ Garden Park's main goal is to keep the community garden space maintained with a committed stream of volunteers. In order to meet this goal, Neighbors' Garden developed a "plot for spot" incentive model of cooperation. Interested volunteers are required to contribute a minimum of 7 hours per month for 3 months before they are placed on the waiting list for a plot. For more information please contact
