Description

Artist's Statement: I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to exhibit my work in the city of Chicago.  The work I am exhibiting is entitled the “Wedding Cake Series.” This is the second time I have exhibited pieces from this body of work.  This work is somewhat monumental.  I have taken an icon of our culture, the wedding cake, abstracted it to some extent and exaggerated it.  I believe I have been influenced greatly by such artists as Claes Oldenburg, Robert Arneson, Antony Gormley and Thomas Schutte. It is my hope that the work will create an opportunity for the viewer to reflect on the institution of marriage.  The work is not envisioned to have an agenda on marriage.
