Description

North Park Village Nature Center manages a 12-acre satellite area named Walking Stick Woods. Spending decades as a mostly unused tract in the southeast corner of the Village complex, Walking Stick Woods now features winding mulch and soft-surface trails, interesting cultural features, and well-used and much-loved nature play spaces. Here, families discover their places in the natural world by exploring and playing together at their own pace. At Walking Stick Woods you may spot the bright yellow flowers of American senna (Senna hebecarpa), the little umbrella-shaped leaves of mayapple (Podophyllum peltatum), or the bumpy bark of hackberry trees (Celtis occidentalis).

Help keep wildlife wild, safe, and healthy by following posted signage and Natural Areas Rules and Regulations. For questions regarding Chicago Park District Natural Areas, email nature@chicagoparkdistrict.com
